SMU People for Animal Welfare (PAW) is dedicated to fostering love for animals, promoting responsible pet ownership and adoption, and preventing animal cruelty among the SMU community and the general public. This is achieved by organising events and gatherings, conducting volunteering programmes, and collaborating with various animal welfare groups to provide various opportunities that promote learning and discussion of animal welfare topics.

Notable Achievements

Trophy

1. SMU PAW Animal Day (SPAD) 2024
In 2024, SMU PAW reached new heights with its annual flagship event, SMU PAW Animal Day (SPAD), one of the biggest animal welfare events at SMU. Held in conjunction with SMU Open House 2024, the Whiskers Wonderland-themed SPAD featured performances, an adoption drive, and fundraising activities, bringing the community together to celebrate and support animal welfare.

2. SMU Animal Shelter Program (Oasis Second Chance Animal Shelter & The Right to Live)
SMU PAW has successfully established a long-term volunteering partnership with Oasis Second Chance Animal Shelter and The Right to Live, allowing students to engage in hands-on shelter work while contributing to the welfare of rescue animals. Through this year-long Shelter Programme, volunteers have made a tangible impact by assisting in daily care routines, strengthening community engagement, and fostering greater awareness of adoption and animal welfare.
